![]() ![]() Get to the park as early as possible to avoid the crowds. The (very popular) park often reaches capacity, especially on spring break, holidays, and weekends. Reservations for Enchanted Rock State Natural Area are highly recommended for both camping and day use.Although there’s drinking water available, visitors are still encouraged to bring in their own. Restrooms may be closed (portable toilets will be made available). There’s currently a critical water shortage at Enchanted Rock. If there is any way possible to change your schedule so you will be in town on a Saturday, or at least not on a Monday, I would highly recommend it. So, unless you want to hire a $$$ private limo for the day, your choices for wineries will be limited to those on Main Street.Īs we have warned people here many times, most of Fredericksburg, including wineries and restaurants, is closed on Mondays. Here's the problem, though: the Wine Tour buses are only available on Saturdays. So, you are not stuck sitting on the bus all day, and if you want to spend more time at a particular winery, you can. The Wine Tour buses are more like a shuttle they run a continuous route and you hop on and off wherever you'd like. I usually recommend Becker, 4.0 Cellars, and Chisholm Trail for visitors because all three facilities are beautiful, and Becker and 4.0 are arguably two of the best wineries in the area based on competitions where their wines win awards. Many of the best wineries in the area are not located on Main Street, so you have to go to their locations. Personally, I much prefer to get out of town and visit the wineries' main locations in the beautiful Hill Country. If you don't want to get out of town, then you can certainly enjoy wine tasting while walking on Main Street. Grape Creek, Fiesta, and Fat A$$ all have tasting rooms there (in addition to their other locations), and the Fredericksburg Winery, Narrow Path and Armadillo's Leap are only located on Main Street. (we have also slept in the back of our pickups with a blowup mattressĪnswer: Yes, there are some tasting rooms on Main Street. If the weather is warm-spring or summer- we have gone w/o a tent and just slept in light bags, sometimes mosquitoes are bad-so plan accordingly. Just realize there are only primitive campsites (tents only). If you are really wanting to see the sunrise-camping in the park is your best bet. If you hike up later to see the sunset or the stars take a blanket to sit or lay on or cuddle under. ![]() Sunset is just as beautiful from on top-it may be warm during the day, but if you are on top as sunsets you will need a jacket or something. ![]() Since the time is going to be changing pretty soon you might be able to be on top when the sun comes up-check the local calendar for sunrise/sunset times. I have been asked about getting into the park to watch the sunrise from on top. They closed the park 2 cars be hind us, Whew!! Just realize that with the mild winter weather we have had here in Texas, people are wanting to get out and enjoy the sun. We arrived at 9am and sat in line for 25-30 minutes. If you are planning to head to Enchanted Rock for a day of hiking, especially on a weekend or during spring break, make sure to get there early!!! We went this past weekend to do some technical rock climbing and barely made it in. ![]()
